21st June 2006 Windsurfing: Ynyslas Wind Direction: W Wind Stength: 25-35 knots Surf / Sea State: 2 foot messy surf Air Temperature: 13ºC Sea Temperature: 16ºC Weather: Cloudy Max Speed: Distance Covered: Loads of wind so I walked across to the beach with my wave board and 5m, 4.5m and 4m sails. When I got there the wind wasn't completely mad so I opted for the 5m and got out on the water. To start with there wasn't really quite enough, but after a few runs it filled back in again and I was nicely powered up. AndyW then turned up and joined me on the water at which point the wind filled in a little more and settled down so that we were maxed out on our 5m sails. How Andy was coping with his big board I don't know. The conditions were pretty much as good as they get, lots of waves to play on, plenty of wind and just enough southerly in it to be able to blast out towards the Dovey Bar Bouy. Lots of big jumps on the way out, follwed by a mad blast back and a few nice wave rides. The wind settled down at aroudn 30 knots for the rest of the day, but after a while I was just too exhausted to hang on to the 5m. I could have changed down to the 4m but didn't really have the energy to do so. I tried a couple of forward loops as well, but by the time I'd summoned up the courage to go for them I was a little overpowered and too tired to make anything from the attempts. All in all a good day at the office. |
